I have dedicated my career to representing individuals facing formidable adversaries, much like the story of David taking on Goliath. My work has focused on safeguarding property rights in the face of major energy developments and defending civil liberties in legal challenges against the government. A career highlight was the rare opportunity to cross-examine the Prime Minister of Canada during a live broadcast, capturing global attention.
These legal challenges are often highly technical, complex, and time-sensitive. I have thrived in these demanding environments, consistently demonstrating skillful advocacy and effective management.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Science, a Law Degree, and a Master of Laws in Alternative Dispute Resolution , which collectively equip me with a creative and comprehensive approach to client representation. These experiences have further refined my unique approach to law, emphasizing problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.
In 2010, my personal life took an unexpected turn with a diagnosis of a rare form of pancreatic cancer, requiring life-saving surgery. This experience prompted a profound reevaluation of my goals. In 2012, I took a hiatus from law, embarking on a journey of personal wellness and self-discovery, leading to the creation of two health and wellness businesses.
I also founded Empowered Canadians to inform Canadians about their legal and political systems, empowering them to become active participants in our democracy. I am also the author of Reconnect to Canada, a best-selling book that explores Canada’s civic landscape and encourages readers to engage more deeply with their rights and responsibilities as citizens. Additionally, I host Dialogue over Division, a podcast dedicated to fostering meaningful discussions on civic issues, emphasizing dialogue, understanding, and unity.
These experiences—spanning my professional work, educational background, and personal challenges—have shaped my dedication to justice and my belief in the power of education. They have strengthened my commitment to advocating for the rights of vulnerable individuals and inspiring others to contribute to positive change.
"If we are to keep our democracy, there must be one commandment; 'Thou shalt not ration justice.'" - Judge Learned Hand
